Matters of the Heart: A Heart Filled with Love- A Reflection from Streatham Vale

God loves us with an unbelievable love, one we cannot understand or imagine. He pours that love into our hearts and asks us to share His love with others; to love others with that awesome love. Are our hearts filled with love? Are we willing to love others in the same way that God loves us? Let us reflect upon the condition of our heart.

1 John 4:7-21
Galatians 4:4-7
Matthew 5:44
James 2:14-26

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.” C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.
