Lent: Journeying with Jesus: Jesus among the crowds
Lent 2025 - Journeying with Jesus / 2
We move from seeing Jesus in the wilderness, to walking with Jesus among the crowds. Jairus, the synagogue leader begs Jesus to come to his house to heal his daughter. While on the way there, a woman reaches out to Jesus to be healed from her bleeding which has lasted 12 years. In these two encounters, we see Jesus’ compassion and power. We also see how Jesus had time for people even whilst everyone with their different needs and desires were pushing in on Jesus. Read more

Palm Sunday: Why do we celebrate?
Palm Sunday 2024
The crowds rejoiced at the coming of Jesus, as the Messiah and King. But they did not understand what He was there to do. They believed He was going to free them from Roman rule and take up His place as King over Israel, a sovereign nation. But Jesus had a different mission. He had a greater mission. He was there to free all of creation from the grip of Satan. He was coming to set us free from slavery to the world. Read more

Cost of Discipleship
Authority of Jesus - Lent 2024 / 5
What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus? How does this really impact our lives? In the passage for this reflection, we see that following Jesus is not an easy path. It is a costly one. And we have to choose whether we truly want to submit completely to Jesus’ authority or whether we’d rather continue living life our own way. Are we willing to recognise God’s authority over our lives? Are we willing to lay down the crown of our lives and submit to the King of the World? Read more

Over Sickness
Authority of Jesus - Lent 2024 / 4
Jesus demonstrates His authority over illness and disease as He works miracles in the lives of the man with leprosy, the servant of the centurion and Peter’s mother-in-law. What can we learnt about Jesus and about ourselves as we reflect upon the interactions that Jesus had with these people? How can we allow God to work in our lives? Readings Matthew 8:1-17
