We continue to ask the questions “why are we here?” and “what is the Church?”

For this reflection and for the next one, we will focus on the famous metaphor of the Church as the Body of Christ. This is such a rich, important metaphor that we’ll be spending two weeks on it. For this reflection, we are looking at the need for diversity in the Body of Christ.

God has gifted EVERYONE in His Church with gifts from the Holy Spirit. We should not be worried about comparing our gifts to someone else’s. We all need to play our part and use our gifts to serve God and to love others.

Quotes

“Every time I looked in the mirror, it was like, ‘You’re not good enough.’ ‘There’s always someone more popular.’ ‘There’s always someone more gifted in music.’” Brian Welch, Korn

“Every single person is gifted. Every single person has an amazing thing and an amazing perspective to offer life! It is inherent in every single person, in each and everyone of us! We ALL have GREATNESS within us!” Angie Karan

“Everyone battles fear and uncertainty every day. However, the only failure in life is believing that your value relies on other people’s approval or resources. The reality is this: When you are living your authentic self and not how people want you to act, then you are free to use the full spectrum of your creativity and gifts.” Shannon Alder

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” Theodore Roosevelt
