On Remembrance Sunday, and Remembrance Day, we take 2 minutes out of our busy, noisy days to be still, to be silent.

God also speaks to us and says “Be still and know that I am God”.

Psalm 46 reminds us that we can find refuge in God, we can rely on God’s strength, but we also need to be still and know that He is God. To turn our attention to Him and recognise His presence with us.

Today is Remembrance Sunday, a day to look back and remember the horrors of war and the sacrifice of millions of lives. But it is also a day to look and remember God is with us. We can gain confidence and hope for the present through remembrance as we see God was with us during those difficult times, and He is and has always been our refuge and strength. We can also have confidence and hope for eternity as we remember that all our trials are temporary. We have a home in the city of God. We do not need to fear.

Today is Remembrance Sunday, a day in which we pause and remember those affected by war - by the wars of the past and the wars of today.

But God calls us to a different way of life. Micah paints a picture of the life that God calls us to, a life where God dwells with His people and weapons of war are transformed into instruments of growth.

Can we allow God to transform our hearts so that we can see a glimpse of this vision of heaven in our own lives? Can we learn to live according to God’s Word instead of getting caught up in this world of competition, cruelty, and selfishness?
