We continue our focus on the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost as we continue following the story. And as we do, we ask ourselves how is the Holy Spirit working today in our lives? This week we think about the way in which the Spirit empowers and directs, giving visions and dreams, causing us to prophesy and speak out the words of God.

What is God showing you? What dreams and visions does He give you? What words is He calling you to speak? How is the Holy Spirit directing you?

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

It is Pentecost! The day that we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit, coming down upon the disciples with power - the sound of rushing wind, tongues of fire resting on their heads. We celebrate today because God dwells with us and God dwells within us!

But what does that actually mean for us? How does the presence of the Holy Spirit affect us, transform us and equip us for what God calls us to?

It is Pentecost, a day when we remember and recognise the coming of the Holy Spirit. We are pausing from our series in 2 Timothy, which we will pick back up on next week, but today, we look back to the events of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in power. Listen as we hear from one of the 120 disciples as they retell the story.

The Power and Influence of the Holy Spirit

It’s Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit came to rest upon the disciples with the sound of rushing wind and tongues of fire. We may not hear the wind or see the fire, but the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in our hearts too, if we choose to allow God into our lives. Pause for a moment as we reflect on the power and the influence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of the disciples, and in our lives too.

Will You Follow Me, No Matter the Cost?

We look this week at Jesus’ call to Simon Peter, but also to us, as Jesus says, “Follow Me”. Look at Peter’s response to the question and take time to consider your own response to the question Jesus is asking you. Jesus is inviting you to put your trust in Him and follow where He leads you.
