Women of the Nativity: Anna's Story

The prophetess Anna is the next woman of the Nativity that we consider as we look at the Christmas story through their eyes. Anna is a prophetess who has spent the majority of her life in the Temple, fasting and praying and devoting herself to God. This God-centred life enabled her to hear the prompting of the Holy Spirit and meet the Messiah.

Upon meeting Jesus, Anna’s first response is worship and her second response is to tell people about Him. We have the privilege of knowing Jesus too. How do we respond? Do we worship Him? Do we tell everyone we can about Him? How can we let this Christmas season draw us closer to God? How can we worship Him, not just with songs, but with our lives? And are we willing to share the news of Jesus with others?

Quotes: Women of the Nativity: An Advent and Christmas journey in nine stories, Paula Gooder “Fasting from any nourishment, activity, involvement or pursuit—for any season—sets the stage for God to appear.” Dan B Allender.
