What is in a name? Jesus’ name and titles give us glimpses into who Jesus is and what He came to do on earth. Understanding the relevance of these titles helps to inspire us to worship God, crying out “Jesus Christ is Lord”. Paul’s Final Words on Commitment | Commitment / 4 |
As Paul ends his letter to Timothy, he issues his final charge to Timothy to stay committed to Jesus and to preaching the gospel. He wanted to encourage and inspire Timothy to remain faithful whatever he would face. This charge is for us too. Let us learn from Paul as we listen to his final words to Timothy. 2 Timothy 3:10-4:22

“I was there at Pentecost”
It is Pentecost, a day when we remember and recognise the coming of the Holy Spirit. We are pausing from our series in 2 Timothy, which we will pick back up on next week, but today, we look back to the events of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples in power. Threats to our Commitment! | Commitment - 2 Timothy / 3 |
As we continue through 2 Timothy, Paul turns his attention to warning about the threats we face in our journey of commitment to God. Paul notes 3 threats that could cause people to waver from their commitment to God. These threats are quarrelling, gossip and temptation to return to our previous way of life. Commitment in the Face of Faithlessness! | Commitment - 2 Timothy / 2 |
In the second part of our series, we find Paul instructing Timothy how to remain faithful and committed in the face of faithlessness. Timothy was facing in-fighting and attempts at usurping control of the church away from the rightful head, Jesus. And so, Paul gave Timothy encouragement and guidance for how to remain faithful in the face of such opposition. We may not face the same struggles as Timothy, but we too can learn from these words to help us as we face the struggles of our own daily lives. Read more
