Jesus Calms the Storm
Matthew's Gospel / 1
As we look at Jesus’ life in Matthew’s Gospel we see the disciples get into a boat and encounter a furious storm. The disciples took a risk in following Jesus, and although they encountered storms, they also saw miracles. When we face the decision of whether to follow Jesus’ call, it can be easy to see the storms and choose to turn away, but if we do we miss the miracles, we miss the awesomeness of being in the presence of God. Are you willing to get in the boat and trust that Jesus cares for you?
Matthew 8:23-27 Mark 4:35-41
“to laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out for another is to risk involvement. To expose feelings is to risk exposing our true self. To place your ideas, your dreams before the crowd is to risk loss. To love is to risk not being loved in return. To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk despair. To try at all is to risk failure. But to risk we must, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing. The man, the woman, who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing, is nothing.” Mother Theresa (?) or Anonymous
