Palm Sunday: Why do we celebrate?

The crowds rejoiced at the coming of Jesus, as the Messiah and King. But they did not understand what He was there to do. They believed He was going to free them from Roman rule and take up His place as King over Israel, a sovereign nation. But Jesus had a different mission. He had a greater mission. He was there to free all of creation from the grip of Satan. He was coming to set us free from slavery to the world.
So, as we celebrate on this Palm Sunday, ask yourself - why do you celebrate? How does the good news of what Jesus did change your life? Are you living in the knowledge that you are free?
